Propel Parenting Conference
Saturday, October 2
The moment you become a parent you quickly learn the staunch reality that parenting is hard. Every phase of our kid’s lives comes with new challenges and it is hard to keep up with how the ever-changing world around us is influencing them. Then add on top of that trying to teach them how to be followers of God amidst a fallen and sinful world. It’s overwhelming. And that is why we created Propel. It is our desire to help you propel your kids to walk in obedience to God.
This year we are honored to have Dr. Chip Dickens, Ph.D. He is the Department Chair and Professor of Biblical Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary. Before joining the faculty at DTS, Dr. Dickens served as an associate pastor in the areas of pastoral care and counseling. He has previously served on the faculty of Biola University and has taught seminary and graduate-level courses internationally in Austria, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka. Dr. Dickens is professionally active in the American Association of Christian Counselors and also serves as a contributing editor for the Journal of Psychology and Theology. He is married to Rebecca and they have two children: Joshua and Jillian.
If you are a Christian parent, you most likely know how important it is to be discipling your kids. That’s why you are on this site! And we all know there is no simple answer on how best to disciple your kids, so we want to help equip you as much as possible. This year we talking specifically about how to disciple your kids and why it matter. With Deuteronomy 6:6-7 as a key framework, Dr. Chip Dickens will dive into the science behind discipleship, discuss why we need to do it, examine creative ways to disciple, and address how discipleship means, as the parent, we need to get our act together.
