At the beginning of each New Year, most of us are hopeful for a fresh start. Here are five simple steps to make 2017 the best!
That’s right, celebrate! Think back over the past twelve months and thank God for the victories He has allowed you to experience.
“But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate” (Luke 15:22-24).
Take some time to ask these questions:
- What did I learn?
- What went well?
- What can I do better?
“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else” (Galatians 6:4).
Clarity is extremely important. It is critical to be clear on your purpose, your passion, and values. It is much easier to navigate through the New Year when you can see clearly.
“Then the Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it’” (Habakkuk 2:2).
Busyness kills focus. Eliminate clutter in your life, then identify your three top goals for 2017 and focus as much attention and effort toward there.
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2).
Move from planning (possibilities) to execution (accountability). Write out action steps for each month in 2017. Remember distractions lead to procrastination and procrastination means no execution. Be proactive; be known as a “go-to person.”
