The Bible Project

As we approach a new year, I’m encouraging every member at BridgeWay to read through the entire New Testament in 2017. Nothing will assist in your spiritual growth like reading and praying over the Word of God.

Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and sprit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

We can no more grow spiritually without the word of God than a baby can grow without milk. As we develop spiritually, we are called to go beyond the milk of the word to solid food (Hebrews 5:12-14).

So I am challenging every member to mature by reading the New Testament this next year. You can accomplish this by reading one chapter 5 days each week (you can take the weekend off, though I don’t recommend it!). Here’s a link that will provide a reading plan to enable you to read through the New Testament in 2017: http://bibleplan.org/plans/new-testament-in-a-year/.

In addition, I encourage you to consult the following free resources to deepen your study:

Bible Project videos. Two guys from Seattle have created some remarkable video introductions to the books of the New Testament (they have not quite finished but have videos on about 20 of the 26 books in the New Testament). One is a theologian and the other is an artist, and I consider their work to be one of the best tools I’ve seen for understanding the overall outline of each book. These videos are free and can be downloaded at the following link: www.thebibleproject.com

New Testament Survey Matthew-Revelation by Dr. Bob Utley with Bible Lessons International. This free online survey of the New Testament is about 200 pages long. This study looks carefully at each of the books of the New Testament. To check these out, go to www.free-online-bible-study.com/support-files/new_testament_survey.pdf. Or you can get the survey free on nook at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/new-testament-survey-dr-bob-utley/1026781924?ean=2940025350750

I hope you’ll join me in discovering the power and relevance of the Word of God by reading through the New Testament! It will make a dramatic difference in your spiritual maturity in 2017!
